Jemuel S. Forto won the gold in the “Bravo! ASEAN in Korea 2010” which is a talent competition organized by Arirang TV and the ASEAN –Korea Center. This Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) contest allows each country to present its own culture through songs and dances. The contestants should be from any ASEAN member nation and a resident of Korea. The contestants interpreted also one Korean song to the delight of the audience.

There was a preliminary tryout in which Forto has sailed through without any problem. The main competition was held last November 20, 2010, at the Konkuk University, in Seoul and was aired globally through the Arirang TV network.

Forto, a cum laude graduate of the College of Engineering, Angeles University Foundation in Angeles City, Philippines, outshone 11 other contestants to win the gold.

It was not a surprise for his friends because during college years, he had always been a great performer being a member of the AUF Concert Chorus.

This is the second time that the contest was held.  According to Arirang TV, the contest aims “to promote fellowship and cultural exchanges among ASEAN countries.”
