James Murdoch has quit as a director of companies that publish The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sun, international news sites reported on Wednesday, November 23, 2011.

According to reports, Murdoch stepped down as a director of News Group Newspapers Limited (NGN), publisher of The Sun; and Times Newspapers Limited (TNL), which operates The Times and The Sunday Times. These were said to be based on the documents filed at Companies House, Britain‘s main register of companies.

Murdoch is still the chairman of News International (NI), the British arm of his father Rupert Murdoch‘s News Corp., reports said.

“James Murdoch doesn’t step back from NI. He remains chairman,” a spokesman was quoted as saying.
