James Franco and Anne Hathaway to host Oscar Awards 2011

International news sites have confirmed that James Franco and Anne Hathaway will host the Oscar Awards 2011, which will be telecast on February 27, at ABC.

According to the reports, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced on Monday that James Franco and Anne Hathaway will be co-hosting the 83rd Annual Oscar ceremonies.

Its producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer was said to be aiming to attract the younger audience for the big event next year, unlike in the past years where veteran hosts like David Letterman, Billy Crystal, and Steve Martin took the show.

James Franco, now 32, is being said to be a top contender for the Best Actor award for his ‘127 Hours, while Anne Hathaway was nominated for Best Actress in 2008 for the film “Rachel Getting Married.”

Hathaway, now 28, is also one of the lead stars in the current comedy film “Love and Other Drugs”.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons — fresh, exciting and multi-talented,” Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer were quoted as saying in a statement.

“We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that.” The telecast producers added.
