As reported earlier, the DOT launched its new slogan on Friday morning, dubbed “It’s more fun in the Philippines“, along with a new website, and went trending in Yahoo and in Twitter worldwide.

“We need a line that is easily understood. Competitive. More fun in the Philippines is true. Keri natin ito” Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr. was also quoted at DOT‘s official Twitter account (@DOTPhilippines).

“Wherever you go in the Philippines, it’s the Filipinos that will make your holiday unforgettable. Just ask anyone who’s been here.” A statement reads at ItsmorefuninthePhilippines.com, which the tagline “#1forFun” being hoped to enjoin the entire nation in creating positive buzz.

However, a negative buzz is now circulating in Twitter and Facebook after some users are noting the similarity between the latest DOT slogan and the slogan from the 1951 ad from the Swiss National Tourist Office.

“It’s more fun in Switzerland!” A statement reads on the Swizz 1951 tourism ad, which measures about 6.5 x 10 inches and is currently being sold at VintagePaperAds.com for $9.99.

“Soak up the sun — whether you’re drifting on palm-fringed lakes or exploring sunny Alpine trails. In four hours, Switzerland‘s fast electric trains will whisk you almost anywhere in this gay and friendly country.” The statement added.

Back in November 2010, President Noynoy Aquino III (PNoy) decided to junk the DOT sloganPilipinas Kay Ganda‘ (Philippines, so Beautiful) after its logo was highly criticized for allegedly being copied from Poland‘s official travel website.
