Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has finally resigned after 17 long years of being in office. This was disclosed by international news sites, November 12, 2011.

Apparently, the resignation of PM Berlusconi comes after austerity measures have been passed by Italy’s lower and upper houses.

This was in response to the EU community’s request so that Italy’s economy would be restored and stabilized.

Reportedly, Berlusconi, 75, submitted his resignation to President Giorgio Napolitano.

The European community is looking forward to a stable emergency government and Italian business leaders are striving to launch one under Mr. Monti, a respected economist.

Additional reports stated that Prime Minister Berlusconi’s resignation after the formulation of the austerity package has put to rest his detractors at last and Italy back to its economic recovery.
