The supposed upcoming iPad 3 is now being believed to be using a logic board with processor Apple A5X, as shown in the photo below, contrary to earlier rumors that Apple will use an A6 chip for the next iPad.

As noted at Mac Rumors on Sunday, February 19, 2012, Apple may introduce an upgraded processor and graphics package for the next iPad, or the iPad 3; which is called the “A5X“.

According to the report, the latest iPad 3 rumors originated from the Chinese website WeiPhone.com, wherein a post in their forum revealed the photo of what could be the processor of the next iPad.

Apparently, several other features are also visible on the logic board, which includes a of 16 GB flash memory chips from Hynix, with the rectangular A5X chip depicting an Apple logo.

Interestingly, a date code of “1146” can be seen on the A5X chip which is being believed to be indicating that it was manufactured in the 46th week of 2011, or from November 14 to 20.

As reported earlier, Rene Ritchie of iMore.com said a very reliable source revealed that there will be an Apple event this coming March 7, wherein iPad 3 will be announced, which was said to be featuring a quad-core Apple A6 system-on-a-chip.

On the other hand, a report at Wall Street Journal suggested that that the next iPad, or iPad 3 will have 4G LTE capabilities, and will be sold at Verizon and AT&T; and that Apple is also testing an 8-inch iPad.
