Iglesia Ni Cristo Sets New Guinness World Record For Largest Charity Walk

The Iglesia Ni Cristo sets a new Guinness World Record for the largest charity walk in a single venue with 175,409 participants, beating the previous record of 77,500 by Singapore.

The event known as “Worldwide Walk,” was held in Roxas Boulevard and started early this morning. Police estimated the crowds to be about 1.5 million. Kirstie Bennet, the representative of Guinness Book of World Records, made the formal announcement in front of the participants.

“It’s amazing to see so many people take part and with such an important cause, and Guinness World Record is very, very proud to be a part of it,” Bennet said.

“The current record for this stands at 77,500. Today, a total of 175,409 people…,” Bennet announced drawing the crowd to cheer.

“On behalf of Guinness World Record, I would like to present Iglesia Ni Cristo with a record of the largest charity walk. Mabuhay, you are officially amazing!” Bennet announced.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo Worldwide Walk aims to raise funds to help Typhoon Yolanda victims, especially those in Tacloban and Leyte.
