Ichiro Suzuki has agreed to a two-year $13 million deal with New York Yankees, sports news sites reported on Friday, December 14, 2012.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com confirmed the report via Twitter, saying, “#yankees have deal with ichiro. 2 yrs, likely $13M.”
Reports said that this is the first multi-year deal of the Yankees of the off-season.
Moreover, reports said that Ichiro turned down two larger multi-year deal offers to remain with the Yankees.
Ichiro batted .261 with four homers, 28 RBIs and 15 stolen bases in 95 games with the Mariners, then hit .322 with five homers, 27 RBIs and 14 steals in 67 games for the Yankees, Sports Illustrated reported.
He will likely play right field or left field for the Yankees in 2013, reports said.
