Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) is voluntarily recalling some lots of their two brands of dry pet food in the US, after they were potentially contaminated with Salmonella. The affected products include Iams dry dog food, Iams dry cat food, and Eukanuba dry dog food. The complete list of the recalled products is available below.
According to the pdf file at Iams.com this Wednesday, August 14, the recalled dog food and cat food products were distributed to selected retailers across the United States, mostly on the East Coast. They were produced during a 10-day window on a single production line in one of their US plants.
But while the company said they are disappointed with the issue, this Iams recall affects only around one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) of their total annual production. Likewise, 99% of these products that are now in the marketplace are being as safe for for pet consumption.
The company also noted there were no salmonella illnesses reported due to this Iams recall, as well as from the Eukanuba recall. Consequently, No other dry dog food, dry cat food, dog or cat canned wet food, biscuits/treats or supplements are affected by this set of recalls.
P&G also said they already informed their retailers about this problem, and advised them to remove the affected products from their shelves. However, consumers who bought the recalled products listed below are being advised to stop using them and to visit their official websites on how they can check if the product they purchased is included in the recall.
