HTC Announces Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrade For Their Smartphones

HTC Corporation announced on Monday, November 7, 2011 when they plan to deploy the latest Android OS updates to their smartphones.

According to a HTC UK Facebook page note posted that day, the smartphone manufacturer plans to give Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades to their high-end smartphones by early 2012.

HTC is following the lead of other smartphone manufacturers like Samsung who announced last month when they plan to roll out Ice Cream Sandwich updates for their smartphone portfolio.

Quoting the HTC UK Facebook page announcement:

HTC knows how excited our fans are to get their hands on Google’s latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, so we’re thrilled today to announce the first wave of HTC phones that will receive upgrades.

Ice Cream Sandwich is coming in early 2012 to a variety of devices including the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, as well as the HTC Rezound*, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G* and HTC Amaze 4G* through close integration with our carrier partners.

We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich.

Google unveiled their latest mobile operating system Android 4.0 codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone last month.

The Ice Cream Sandwich OS update includes tons of improvement from the previous Android version and a lot of Android users are eager to know when their handset manufacturers will provide OS updates for their smartphones.
