Houston Chevron Marathon and USATF Half Marathon Winners 2011

The Annual Chevron Houston Marathon 2011 took place on January 30, 2011, with the starting line at the George Brown Convention Center in Downtown Houston.  Cash prizes are at stake, as disclosed by sports sites, January 29, 2011.

The winner received $35,000 and an additional $4000 for a course record. There are other cash prizes for winners.

The winners of the Chevron Houston Marathon are Bekana Daba – 1st, Nick Arciniaga – 2nd, Wilfred Murgor – 3rd, Teyba Erkesso – 4th and Mamitu Daska – 5th. Bekana Daba breaks the record of 2:07.37, with her 2:02:04.

In the USATF Half Marathon Championships, Mohammed Trafeh won over Ryan Hall and Patrick Smyth with his 0:02:17 time against Hall’s 01:02:20 and Smyth’s 01:02:32.  The winners received $12,000, $6,500 and $4,000 respectively. There were also minor prizes ranging from $2,000 to$ 250, down to the 10th place.

The activity seeks to promote appreciation of the sports and maintenance of good health.
