Honda America releases November 2011 sales, 2012 Honda Civic best selling car for the month

Honda America released on Thursday, December 1, 2011 its November 2011 sales and revealed that Honda Civic was their best-selling car for the month.

As announced by Honda Motors on their official news site that day, they have sold 83,925 vehicles last November, which is 10.1% decrease as compared to the previous month, October.

The announcement came along with their released statement about the expansion of the Honda recall due to potential airbag problem, affecting around 304,000 vehicles worldwide, with 273,000 vehicles in US alone.

According to American Honda Motor Co., Inc, year-to-date sales reached 1,042,055, a 5.7% lower than last year, based on their daily selling rate (DSR), citing the record sales for each car model.

For the past month, November, Honda America said that Honda Civic was their top-selling vehicle, with 17,133 units sold, but is 0.7 percent lower as compared to last year.

Meanwhile, Honda Pilot sold 10,487 units, which is 32.6% higher than last year, while Honda Accord posted sales of 14,355 a decrease of 17.9 percent. Honda CR-V posted sales of 16,426 last month, or 13.7% lower.

“The impact of the Thailand flooding on our North American production levels continued to be felt in November,” American Honda Sales EVP John Mendel was quoted on the report.

“We’re looking forward to closing the year on a strong note as production recovers and the all-new CR-V goes on sale this month.” Mendel added.

On the other hand, Acura Division sold 9,909 vehicles last November sales of 9,909, a decrease of 11.2 percent against the same month last year, with MDX noted to be the top-selling Acura model for the month, with 3,308 units sold.
