The list of the world’s highest paid musicians for 2012 was released by the Forbes website on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. United States artist Dr. Dre is reportedly the world’s highest paid musician for 2012.

Dr. Dre earned about $110 million in 2012. However, majority of his earnings came from his Beats by Dre headphones business. He received $100-million after selling 51% of his stake in his headphone company.

The Forbes top 25 highest paid musicians reportedly include pop stars, rock icons, rap moguls and male country singers.

According Forbes, most of the artists that made the top 25 list made money “outside the recording studio” but mainly on business ventures and concert tours. The 2012 highest paid musicians is also a list of international artists from the US, England and Ireland among others.

Gary Bongiovanni, editor of concert data purveyor Pollstar, revealed that “The concert business had another solid year as both artists and concert promoters used more caution in trying to achieve their touring objectives.” He further explains that “The good seats for major artists continue to be priced at a premium.”
