Harry Winston’s Stolen Jewelry Pieces, Worth 18 Million Euros, Found in a Drain

Part of the Harry Winston pieces of jewelry, worth 18 million euros, which were stolen on December 2008 was found in drain. This was reported by international news sites, March 8, 2011.

In December 4, 2008, one of the Harry Winston Jewelry Shop chains near the Champs-Elysees was robbed of at least 80 million Euros worth of merchandise. The four armed robbers, 2 dressed as women and have cleaned up the display windows of the jewelry shop.

It was a daring heist performed roughly within 15 minutes. The robbers wore fashionable clothes like the clients of the shop who were usually those who belong to the upper echelons of society, which included movie stars and famous persons.

Although the robbers turned the place upside down, no one was seriously injured in the incident. The robbers were familiar of the shop and knew their way around. This resulted to 25 arrests. The pieces of jewelry found were in a plastic receptacle, cemented and hidden in the sewer of the house of one of the accused.

According to Paris police, the container yielded 19 rings and 3 sets of earrings. The total amount stolen from the Harry Winston shop in 2008 was 85 million Euros.
