Chris Columbus, the director of the first two Harry Potter movies, is going to produce an adaptation of Anne Rice‘s novel about Jesus Christ‘s childhood entitled Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt, international news sites reported on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.

The novel is about a story of a seven-year-old Jesus Christ who leaves Egypt with his family to return home to Nazareth in which he discovered the truth about his birth, his identity and his purpose in life.

“This film has the potential to be a cinematic classic, a picture that will appeal to all ages, all around the world. I am proud to be part of this incredible production,” Columbus was quoted as saying.

The movie will be directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh, with a screenplay he wrote with his wife Betsy Nowrasteh.

“I’m deliriously happy that Cyrus and Betsy Nowrasteh have written a beautiful script for it, and that Cyrus Nowrasteh will be directing and Chris Columbus and the 1492 Company producing,” Rice reportedly posted on her Facebook page.
