About 226,400 pounds of ground beef have been recalled by One Great Burger. The product recall has been announced last Monday, January 10, 2011 by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

According to Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the problem was discovered during an investigation following customers’ complaints of discoloration and bad smell on the products.

It was said that the ground beef may have been returned by the customers and that the New Jersey-based company took and repacked the returned products for further distribution.

The FSIS reportedly considered the products to be adulterated and took action to remove it from commerce for safety reasons.

The products were packed between January 2010 to May 2010 and was said to have a packed-on dates from July and November 2010. The affected products were packed and sold in 20-pound boxes with the label “ONEGREAT HAMBURGERS“, with “ITEM #02044” labeled on the front, as well as “KEEP FROZEN.

Reports said that FSIS has not received any complaints of illnesses related with the consumption of these products.
