The Memphis Grizzlies advanced to the 2nd round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs by beating the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night’s Game 6, 99-91, according to

Zach Randolph carried the load for Memphis in knocking off the top-seeded San Antonio, as he scored 17 of the Grizzlies‘ 29 fourth quarter points. He finished with a game-high,  31 points and 11 rebounds.

Other Memphis players who provided offense includes Marc Gasol with 12 points and 13 rebounds, Tony Allen added 11 points, and rookie Greivis Vasquez had 11 points.

San Antonio was led by Tony Parker with 23 points while Manu Ginobili had 16, Tim Duncan 12 and Antonio McDyess with 10.

Memphis is the second No. 8 seed team in NBA history to beat a No. 1 seed, since the first round of the playoffs adopted the best-of-seven series.

This is the Grizzlies‘ first Western Conference Semifinals appearance in 10 seasons, after being swept in their three first round playoff appearances.

Lionel Hollins is the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, while Greg Popovich called the shots for the San Antonio Spurs.

The second round of the NBA Playoffs between the Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder will begin on Sunday, May 1, 2011 in Oklahoma.
