Newt Gingrich has topped Mitt Romney and emerged as the GOP front-runner for the 2012 U.S. presidential race in the latest GOP polls despite the direct criticism of his record from fellow Republicans, international news reported.

According to the latest polls, Gingrich leads the field of GOP contenders in Iowa, South Carolina and Florida and is within striking distance of the lead in New Hampshire according to a new CNN/TIME/ORC poll released on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.

However, there are some conservatives who do not believe in Gingrich-power to succeed in an election against current U.S. Pres. Barack Obama. Michael Savage, popular right-wing talk-radio host offered $1 million to Newt Gingrich to drop out the 2012 presidential race, as stated on Michael Savage blog, michaelsavage.wnd.com.

“Newt Gingrich is unelectable. Mitt Romney is the only candidate with a chance of defeating Barack Obama, and there is nothing more important than that for future health, safety, and security of the United States of America. Therefore, I am offering Newt Gingrich one million dollars to drop out of the presidential race for the sake of the nation,” the nationally syndicated Michael Savage said on his blog.

Michael Savage enumerated on his blog what he believes to be the reasons why Gingrich cannot succeed in an election against Obama.

“While it’s true that Romney is not as strong as conservative as many would like him to be, the most pressing issue before America today is defeating Barack Obama. And that is something Newt Gingrich cannot do,” as quoted from Savage blog.
