Today, Google users may notice a birthday cake painting on Google homepage, as Google celebrates its 12th birthday.

As reported in Telegraph, this latest Google Doodle is a painting made by Wayne Thiebaud, an artist from Los Angeles, and was reproduced by permission of Visual Artists and Galleries Association (VAGA).

Thiebaud (pronounced as ‘Tee-bo’) is known in the 50s and 60s for his works about cakes, pastries, boots, toys, lipsticks, and even toilets.

In this simple but artistic painting, the letter L in the word Google was replaced by a candle which marks its 12 years of existence.

However, this may not seem to be as exciting to see as the previous interactive Google Doodle like when Buckyball celebrated its 25th anniversary.

On the other hand, some Google users prefer this birthday cake painting than the former which caused distractions to millions of users.

Google was founded on September 4, 1998 by Laurence E. Page and Sergey Brin, and among its latest products are Google Chrome and some improvements for Gmail users.
