Google’s latest experiment is the Google + 1, which is a feature that allows users to click on the +1 button if they find the article useful to their search.  As announced by Google, it is an on-going experiment by the Google Labs (google.com/experimental) that online users may want to participate in. This experiment started March 30, 2011 and is still ongoing as of this date, April 16, 2011.

According to Google:

“We’re taking that a step further, enabling you to share recommendations with the world right in Google’s search results. It’s called +1 – the digital shorthand for “this is pretty cool.”

When online surfers click on the +1 button, this would act as a recommendation for the site or article. Surfers can allow their +1’s to be private or public. Google has been trying to fit in the social aspect of online users to its services, just like Facebook’s like button.

The requirement for this Google experiment is for users to log in to their Google account when they start searching, so they could click on the +1 feature.
