Manila, Philippines – GMA ‘Kapuso’ Network and TV5 ‘Kapatid’ Network is now reportedly in talks of merging, which was said to be formally announced by the end of November this year; allegedly announced by TV big boss Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP).
According to columnist Ricky Lo on his Funfare post at PhilStar.com on Monday, June 4, 2012 at around 12 a.m. (local time) titled “MVP confirms TV5, GMA merger“, MVP “virtually confirmed” the GMA7-TV5 merging during the press conference last Saturday in San Francisco.
As noted in the report, a partnership between TV5 and Dish Network called “Dish Ko ‘To” was formally signed, promoting the combined channels of GMA Pinoy TV and Kapatid TV5; with Mr. Pangilinan being present during the Sanfo launch of TV5 in Northern California.
Apparently, a full report by PhilStar‘s California correspondent Raymond de Asis Lo on the press conference of the Sanfo launch is being expected to be released tomorrow, Tuesday, June 5; as the rumors of GMA7 and TV5 merger has been circulating for years now.
Nevertheless, TV5 talent Arnell Ignacio tweeted a message about three hours later, which he said came from MVP himself, denying the report, while DJ Sta. Ana later tweeted a message from TV5 President and CEO Atty. Ray Espinosa, also confirming that GMA7-TV5 merging is not true.
