As noted at local news sites on Friday afternoon, Pasay RTC 112 Judge Jesus Mupas has issued an arrest warrant against GMA in relation to the electoral sabotage filed against her.

According to reports, the arrest warrant was served to Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr., and former election supervisor Lintang Bedol. Former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo was not included.

Four hours earlier, Commission Elections (Comelec) filed cases against Mrs. Arroyo regarding the alleged sabotage during 2007 mid-term elections, which is non-bailable offense, where former Comelec chief Benjamin Abalos Sr is also included.

As of this writing, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is still at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City, but is being believed to try leaving the country again at 5:10 p.m, bounded for Singapore. Latest reports said that her travel plans was canceled after learning about the arrest warrant.

This is after the Supreme Court (SC) denied the motion for reconsideration filed by the Solicitor General, which was voted by 8-5, as announced by SC Administrator and spokesman Midas Marquez.

Meanwhile, DOJ Secretary Leila De Lima noted the former president will not be arrested inside the hospital in respect for her health condition although arresting officers will closely be watching the area.
