As featured at Oxygen Channel, Damien McGinty and fellow finalist Samuel Larsen were both announced as Glee Project winners for its first season, and received praises and standing ovation.

Both teenagers were chosen by Glee creator Ryan Murphy, who announced Larsen first as the winner but surprised McGinty later by revealing that he also won, with the week’s theme dubbed as “Gleeality“.

McGinty, an 18-year old Irish member of the singing group Celtic Thunder and was born in Derry, sang “Somewhere Beyond the Sea” as his final performance, was noted to be a crowd favorite in the show.

Meanwhile, 19-year old dreadlock haired rocker Samuel Larsen from Los Angeles who described himself as “hopeless romantic”, sang “Jolene” and “I Am Changing”.

On the other hand, the other two finalists Lindsay Pearce and Alex Newell also notably impressed Murphy, who decided to write them into two episodes of Glee Season 3.

The Glee Project 2011 was launched last June started with 12 contestants and were given singing assignments until the final four was revealed last week.
