Giant Squid in Spain: 30-foot Squid Found in Cantabria Beach (Video)

A giant squid was found at the shore of La Arena beach in Cantabria, Spain on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

The giant squid is reportedly 30 feet in length and weighs about 400 pounds. With large eyes and wide body, the giant squid belongs to Architeuthis dux species, considered by observers as the world’s largest invertebrate.

Authorities has transferred the giant squid to the Maritime Museum of Cantabria in Santander. Museum director, Gerardo Garcia Castrillo explained that it will be cleaned very well before freezing by expert technicians to ensure that the specimen will be preserved properly.
