Gia Mantegna Was Announced The Miss Golden Globe 2011 On The Upcoming 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards

Gia Mantegna has been named Miss Golden Globe 2011 for the upcoming 68th annual Golden Globe Awards, entertainment news reported.

Mantegna is the daughter of former award nominee Joe Mantegna who plays David Rossi on the series “Criminal Minds” and voices mafia boss Fat Tony on the animated show “The Simpsons“.

According to reports, the announcement was made by Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) President Philip Berk during the first party of the 2011 Golden Globe awards season on Thursday. The event was held at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood, California.

Berk said in a statement that they are thrilled to have Gia to be the Miss Golden Globe. He also said that Gia is talented and would be a great addition to the show.

Meanwhile, Gia Mantegna was quoted saying “I have grown up watching the Golden Globes with my family and feel so fortunate to be part of such a magical evening, so early on in my career.”

Reports said that the 68th Golden Globe Awards will be aired live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California on January 16, 2011 and will be televised on NBC. The show will be hosted by comedian and actor Ricky Gervais.
