According to a press release by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on its official website that day, GE is recalling around 62,000 GE Profile Front Load Washers, where the basket can separate while in use causing the washer’s top panel to break, which can lead to injury to users.

The recalled GE washers have model numbers starting with WPDH8800, WPDH8900, and WPDH8910, and all serial numbers are included.. Both the model and serial numbers can be found on the right side of the washer, near the bottom and behind the door near the door frame visible when the door is opened.

As noted in the report, the company has now received 19 reports of related problems, which 10 of them involve the breaking of the washer’s top panel, noting that no one has been injured. Consumers are being strongly advised to immediately stop using the recalled washers and contact GE for a free repair.

The recalled products, which were manufactured in China, were sold at Best Buy, Lowe’s, Sears, The Home Depot and other department and retail stores across the US, from July 2008 to August 2011 for between $1,199 and $1,599, and are available in gold, red, and white colors.
