Lady Gaga‘s newest album “Born This Way” reportedly intercepted and impounded at Beirut‘s international airport in Lebanon, according to Los Angeles Times on Monday, June 6, 2011.

Crates full of Lady Gaga‘s album were confiscated by Lebanese authorities late last week because the music may offend the country’s Christian population.

“We collected the CDs on the grounds that the music was offensive to religion. They are still in our offices. We are still deciding what to do with them,” an official from the government’s censorship office told the Los Angeles Times. ”

According to reports, the censors in Lebanon are screening the songs in the album for its lyrics that may offend Christians.

Lebanese law reportedly allowed censorship of anything that can be considered offensive to any religious groups in Lebanon. The album “Born This Way” of Lady Gaga includes songs entitled “Judas” and “Bloody Mary” which was banned from Lebanese radio stations earlier last April, reports said.

“If they are going to offend us we are going to cancel the album. We will not accept that anyone insult the Virgin Mary or Jesus or Christianity. We have dignity. Call us traditional, call us backward, call us whatever you want. We will not accept it,” Father Abdo Abu Kassm, head of Lebanon‘s Catholic Information Center, was quoted in a report of Los Angeles Times. ”

Meanwhile, there is no official statement so far whether the latest album of Lady Gaga entitled “Born This Way” will be banned in Lebanon or not.
