Frozen Pizza Recall: Rich Products expands food products recall due to E Coli scare (Full Product List)By Angel Cuala on Apr 5, 2013 in Food, Health, United States •
Rich Products Corporation has expanded its earlier frozen pizza recall, which was announced on Thursday, March 28, 2013. This time, the Buffalo, New York-based food company has included all products produced at its Waycross, Georgia plant. The complete product list is available below.
According to a press release by Rich Products on its official website this Thursday, April 4, the updated food recall affects the products from the said plant with “Best By” dates ranging from January 1, 2013 to September 29, 2014 due to possible contamination with Escherichia coli O121 bacteria (E. coli O121).
As noted by the company, these Farm Rich and Market Day products were distributed in retail stores across the US and selected Foodservice Distribution Customers, and that they are to be added with the products on the list that they released earlier.
“When it became apparent to us that, despite the expertise of the USDA, the FDA, the scientific community and our own experts, identification of a specific cause was not going to be a simple or short process, we decided to act proactively to expand the recall.” Bill Gisel, Rich‘s President and Chief Executive Officer, was quoted at Richs.com.
Mr. Gisel added that the company will continue its full cooperation with federal, state, and local agencies in investigating this situation. This latest Rich Products frozen pizza recall has been coordinated with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where the same press release is published.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported 24 cases of E. coli 0121 in 15 US states, but the company said they have no reports on any illnesses related to the products in included in their expanded recall. Rich Products emphasized its commitment to the safety to their customers.
Nevertheless, the company stressed out that there are no other products being recalled, except to those mentioned earlier and in the list below.
