Former SAP Head Leo Apotheker is now the new President and CEO of Hewlett-Packard (HP).

This was announced yesterday by the HP Board of Directors, through an online news release on their website.

Apotheker, who was also reported to be joining the HP Board of Directors, has served SAP for more than two decades.

During those times, he helped develop and implement the most significant changes in SAP and was a strong force to make SAP as the largest business software applications company in the world, the press release said.

HP has a powerful mix of businesses, products and services, one of the most innovative cultures in the industry, and an accomplished management team who have played a critical role in its success,” Apotheker said.

“I am deeply honored to be joining the more than 300,000 dedicated HP employees.” The 57-year old software expert added.

Leo Apotheker, who was said to be able to speak five languages will replace interim CEO Cathie Lesjak, and will start his new post on November 1.

With barely a month ago, Oracle hired former HP CEO Mark Hurd as president, after a former contract worker of HP accused him of alleged sexual harassment.
