As published on US news sites on Thursday, April 14, 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) told reports that Ford will recall about 1.2 million F-150 models.

Apparently, the current F-150 recall is an extension of the announcement last February where Ford recalled around 150,000 2004-2006 F-150 pickup models due to possible malfunction of air bag.

Nevertheless, the previous quantity announced was said to be only around 10 percent of the total 1.32 million F-150 vehicles that are really affected, but Ford then claimed that those quantity were already enough.

According to reports, NHTSA said that there were 60 reported injuries from unwarned pop out of air bag in those vehicles, which may increase the risk of car crash, as around 16,000 Lincoln Mark LT vehicles are also included in the present recall.

“We are pleased that Ford shares our commitment to safety and is taking action to protect consumers by expanding its safety recall to include an additional 1.2 million Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT vehicles,” NHTSA Administrator David Strickland said on reports.

“We hope to continue working cooperatively with auto manufacturers to ensure safety defects are addressed quickly for the driving public.” He added.
