Ford Mustang 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake to be unveiled at New York International Auto Show

A new Ford Mustang called 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake is to be unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, which will start on April 22, 2011.

As reported at CNN Money on Thursday, April 7, 2011, the 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake is the 800-horsepower version of the Ford Mustang.

This latest Ford Mustang model will be built by Shelby American Inc., a a car company based in Las Vegas, which collaborates with Ford Motor Co. with regards to producing upgraded versions of Mustang.

Shelby American has a rich history at the New York International Auto Show,” Shelby American president John Luft was quoted on the report.

“The very first Shelby car was introduced there in 1962, as well as the 1968 and 2008 Shelby GT500KR and the 2006 Shelby Hertz GT-H.” He added.

Apparently, the 2011 Super Snake produces 630 horsepower, but Shelby pushed the 2012 model with an upgrade kit enabling it to produce 800 horsepower, with a no-warranty package option.

Nevertheless, the car company promised that this upcoming version of the Ford Mustang will be available on the US market, and will cost from about $80,000 but lower than $100,000.

This 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake is only one of among the latest cars that will be unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, in which the website announced that a special public view will be held on Friday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Meanwhile, the official opening day will be on April 23, 2011, Saturday, and will last until May 1, 2011, Sunday, at the Jacob Javits Center, in New York.
