Forbes Most Powerful People 2012: US President Obama Leads World’s Top 20 List

The list of the World’s Most Powerful People for 2012 was released by Forbes on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. US President Barack Obama led the top 20 list of individuals who showed great influence around the world this year.

Forbes‘ complete 2012 rankings include several state leaders, businessmen, philanthropists and financiers.

Hundreds of candidates were chosen from all sectors around the globe. According to Forbes, those included in the final rankings for the 2012 World’s Most Powerful People, “10 of its Senior editors ranked all candidates based on the following dimensions and individual rankings were averaged into composite score.”

  • The candidate has power over lots of people.
  • The financial resources controlled by each person.
  • The candidate is powerful in multiple spheres.
  • The candidates actively used their power.
