Forbes List Of Billionaires 2012: List Includes 128 New Billionaires, Slim Retains Top Spot

Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim, with an estimated worth of $69 billion, is still the top billionaire in the Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s billionaires for 2012, released on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.(Check the 2012 Forbes List of Philippine Billionaires here)

Ranked second in the billionaire’s list is Microsoft Corp co-founder Bill Gates with $61 billion net worth.

The 2012 list of billionaires have the same top four from last year’s list that include Warren Buffett and Bernard Arnault who ranked third and fourth respectively.

Reports say that another Mexican, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, got the largest increase in wealth among the 2012 list of billionaires.

Spanx founder, Sara Blakely was reportedly the youngest woman billionaire at age 41 with a net worth of $1 billion. She gained wealth from her business of making slimming undergarments. affirmed there was profit in vanity. She is ranked at 1,153 and is one of the 104 women who made it on the list of billionaires.

The 2012 Forbes list of billionaires is consist of 1,226 individuals from 58 countries. The average net worth of these billionaires was $3.7 billion.

A total of 128 new billionaires were added to 2012 Forbes rankings and that include Colombia‘s Alejandro Santo Domingo, 35, the richest new billionaire in the world ($9.5 billion).

The 27-year-old Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg ranked higher this year at 35th with a net worth of $17.5 billion.
