Democrat Bill Nelson won the Florida Senate race for a third term defeating Republican U.S. Rep. Connie Mack on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, international news sites reported that day.

According to Huffington Post, Bill Nelson received 55.1% of the votes while Connie Mack got 42.4%.

“We have a lot to do now. We have to bring this country together,” Nelson reportedly told several hundred supporters at a downtown Orlando hotel.

“I hope we’re going to have some common sense when we come in as a result of the American people saying, ‘we’ve had enough of this divisiveness. We want people to come together in unison,’ ” Nelson reportedly said.

Reports said that Nelson got endorsements from Florida‘s six largest newspapers while Mack was shut out.
