The US men’s archery team delivered the first silver medal for the Americans at the 2012 London Olympics on Saturday, July 28, 2012.
Team Italy won the gold medal at the Lord’s Cricket Grounds and deprived the Americans from winning their first archery gold since 1996.
Reports by several London Olympic coverages say that the final round score has given the victory to the Italians.
Italy‘s Michelle Frangilli reportedly hit his arrow in the heart of the target to score 10 points that gave Italy a 1-point victory, 219-218, over the American team.
Frangilli, Mauro Nespoli and Marco Galiazzo gave Italy‘s first team gold at the London Olympics.
Earlier, the US archery team defeated Korea in the semifinal, while Italy won over Mexico.
The American archery team of Brady Ellison, Jacob Wukie and Jake Kaminski will have another chance to win an archery gold when they compete in the men’s individual tournament on Friday, August 3.
