The first NFL tie since 2008 was the outcome of the game between the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, November 11, 2012. The game ended up tied at 24 points after top strikers of both teams missed their overtime field goals.

In 2008, the Philadelphia Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals ended their game tied at 13 points apiece.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher described the first NFL tie since 2008 by saying that he has “been doing this a while. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a game like this. As I told our guys, we had a number of chances to put the game away. And, unfortunately, we didn’t.”

Greg Zuerlein of St. Louis reportedly missed two kicks, a 53 and 58-yarder, in overtime.

Later, David Akers missed a 41-yard attempt that could have won the game for San Francisco.

The 49ers earlier lost quarterback Alex Smith in the first-half of the game due to concussion.
