Facebook leads the list of Top 10 most visited websites in 2010, Google ranked only second

Facebook leads the list of Top 10 most visited websites in 2010, while Google ranked only second; according to a survey made by a web tracking firm on Wednesday.

Experian Hitwise, a leading online US competitive intelligence service that aims to give marketers a competitive advantage by providing daily insights of online search, announced that Facebook beat Google for the first time to become the most visited website in 2010.

Facebook, with its founder Mark Zuckerberg who was recently named as ‘Person of the Year’ by Time Magazine, had 8.93 percent of all US visits from January to November 2010.

Google.com landed on the second spot with 7.19 percent, Yahoo! Mail on third place with 3.52 percent; Yahoo! on the fourth place with 3.30 percent; and YouTube with 2.65 percent.

Last year, Google was on top while Yahoo! Mail ranked second; and Facebook was on the third place.

Below is the list of Top 10 Most Visited Website for 2010 according to Experian Hitwise.

4. Yahoo!

5. YouTube

6. MSN

7. My Space

8. Live Mail

9. Yahoo Search

10. Bing

Meanwhile, Experian Hitwise also announced that Facebook was the most search term in 2010, with 2.11 percent of all US searches. Facebook made it to the top one for two consecutive years since 2009.

Facebook Login on the other hand, which ranked on the the ninth spot last year, now ranked on the second spot.

Incidentally, analysis of the search terms showed that social networking-related terms dominated the results, with 4.18 percent of the top 50 searches.
