Apparently, the much-awaited Facebook iPad app is being rumored since early this year with TechCrunch reporting last July that it was found hidden via a hidden code inside an iPhone app.

“Many of you have been asking about Facebook for iPad. Today, it’s finally here.” Facebook engineer Leon Dubinsky wrote on the blog post at Facebook‘s official blog.

“With the iPad app, you get the full Facebook experience, right at your fingertips,” Dubinsky added, citing some of the highlights of the Facebook iPad app.

Among the key features at the Facebook for iPad app mentioned include a hands-on Facebook, where users can use their fingertips to scroll through their News Feed.

In addition, the screen can be swiped to page through albums and the photos can be zoomed by simply pinching on them, giving users the feeling of viewing them like a real photo album.

Meanwhile, the games, apps, groups and lists are available in the left-hand menu, along with the messages and notifications are at the top of the screen, as shown in the sample screenshots here.

On the other hand, Facebook users can also watch high-res videos inline, record HD video and stream to Airplay devices, as well as to chat with friends or play games in full-screen mode.

Facebook also noted that there are several improvements to the iPhone app and m.facebook.com, with the Facebook app made available at iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 3.0 or later.

As of this writing, Facebook for iPad app is available in 13 languages including English, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.

Nevertheless, Apple issued a notice at the Apple Apps store to those upgrading from an older version of the Facebook iPad app.

“If you’re having trouble starting the app after the upgrade, please delete and reinstall the app – this has been confirmed to solve the issue.” Apple said.
