The Facebook-Instagram acquisition deal was first announced by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on his timeline on Monday, April 9, 2012, with Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom later acknowledging the announcement.

“I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.” Mark Zuckerberg wrote, noting that this is the first time for Facebook to buy a product and company with so many users and do not plan making such kind of deal in the future.

“We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience.” Zuckerberg added, noting that Facebook plans on keeping Intagram features such as the ability to post to other social networks, as well the option of not being able to share them.

On the other hand, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom expressed his excitement on the business deal with Facebook, with the photo-sharing app now has 30 million users and recently made available to Android phone users.

“Today, we couldn’t be happier to announce that Instagram has agreed to be acquired by Facebook.” Systrom wrote at Instagram blog, with the mobile-only photo-sharing app being launched back in back in 2010 ands has 13 employees as of this writing.

“It’s important to be clear that Instagram is not going away. We’ll be working with Facebook to evolve Instagram and build the network.” Systrom added, noting that new Instagram features will be added later.

Meanwhile, Twitter users could not help but react on the said business deal, with some of them even mocking the decision of Mark Zuckerberg while praising Kevin Systrom for making good money. Below are some of them.
