A spreading news claiming that Facebook will have a gold membership for $9.99 price and that the service will be free if users forward a message before midnight of Sunday, Sept 25 is a complete hoax.

As noted by Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos on its official blog that day, a Facebook scam message is currently spreading that users will be charged for a certain price.

A sample message can be seen here in the photo, while the actual alleged Facebook scam message can be read below, copied from Sophos.com.

Apparently, a lot of Facebook users who read this message shared it with their online friends, believing it will help them avoid the supposed monthly charges between $3.99 and $9.99.

With this, Sophos reminded the public not to easily believe such kind of news and that Facebook is not going to ask its users for payment, not unless Facebook will announce it which is quite unlikely to happen.

In addition, Mr. Cluley strongly suggests that Facebook users should not entertain misleading chain messages that might create panic and may even put their account at risk as well as others.
