Eric Clapton guitars and amplifiers to go on auction sale for Crossroads Foundation

Rock icon Eric Clapton’s guitars and amplifiers are set to go on auction sale, with a free public viewing to be held in London starting January 23, 2011, where proceeds shall go to Crossroads Foundation which the singer founded.

As published at Eric Clapton‘s official website recently, 70 guitars and 70 amplifiers from Eric Clapton‘s personal collection will be for sale in an auction at Bonhams in New York on March 9, 2011.

News reports say that this will be the first auction sale for the ‘Wonderful Tonight’ legendary singer-guitarist to donate parts of his amplifier collection, wherein guitar legends Joe Bonamassa and Jeff Beck also donated some of their instruments.

Eric Clapton guitars for auction sale include the one of his main guitars from 2005, which is a custom-built Fender Stratocaster, and being estimated to go from $20,000-30,000.

Another historical Stratocaster guitar owned by the ‘Tears in Heaven’ singer is included, which he used during his 2009 Asia Oceania tours and at O2 last year, estimated to be sold from $25,000-30,000.

Proceeds of this Clapton’s guitars auction sale will go Crossroads Center, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Antigua, which Eric Clapton founded in 1998.

Monday 24 January – 9AM to 4:30PM

Wednesday 26 January – 9AM to 4:30PM

The items will also be displayed in Los Angeles from February 18~20, 2011.
