Elton John hospitalized due to ‘respiratory infection’, 4 LA concerts canceled

Elton John has been hospitalized on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, and his four concerts in Los Angeles have been canceled after the doctors reportedly recommended him to rest for seven days.

According to TMZ on Thursday, Elton John was admitted at the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at around 6 a.m. (LA time) on Wednesday and underwent a battery of tests due to serious respiratory infection.

“It feels strange not to be able to perform these ‘Million Dollar Piano‘ concerts at the Colosseum … I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts.” Elton John was quoted telling to TMZ.

“All I can say to the fans is ‘sorry I can’t be with you.” The 65-year-old British music icon added, who was believed to have been released from the said hospital but was told that he needs to have complete rest and antibiotic treatment to prevent damage.

“My concert in Taunton is right in the middle of the Jubilee weekend, so I’m hoping the atmosphere at Somerset Country Cricket Ground will be even livelier than when I played there six years ago!” Elton John wrote on his official website on Tuesday, May 22.

“I guarantee you will know many of the songs in the set, and there will also be some favorite albums tracks from throughout my career.” The ‘Candle in the Wind’ singer added; noting that his European concert tour will start on Friday, June 1, in Wetzlar, Germany.

Meanwhile, the singer’s rep confirmed to Radar Online on Wednesday that John has developed the infection last weekend while performing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Sunday, May 20, noting that the canceled LA concerts will be rescheduled this fall.
