Legendary Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor died on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, according to major news agencies including ABC News and CNN.

According to reports, Elizabeth Taylor passed away on Wednesday morning due to congestive heart failure, with her children surrounding her.

“My Mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love,” Michael Wilding, Taylor’s son, reportedly said on a released statement.

“We will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world.” He added.

“She died peacefully today in Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.” Elizabeth Taylor’s publicist Sally Morrison was quoted as confirming the news.

“She was surrounded by her children: Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd, and Maria Burton.” Morrison added.

About a month and a half ago, Elizabeth Taylor was hospitalized due to symptoms of congestive heart failure, which was diagnosed the same back in 2004 and doctors repaired a leaky heart valve in October 2009.

Liz Taylor, as known by some of her friends, married eight times, with two of them to the same man, Richard Burton, whom she also divorced twice.

Nevertheless, the Hollywood icon, with ‘Cleopatra‘ as among her unforgettable films, won two Academy Awards for Best Actress in a leading role in the films ‘BUTterfield 8’ and ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ in 1960 and 1966, respectively.

Taylor, known for having a glamorous lifestyle, also devoted her time in charity until Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation was established.
