According to Haaretz.com, the El Al plane, with flight LY027 and carrying 276 passengers, landed safely at the Ben Gurion International Airport on Monday, at around 5:30 a.m. (local time).

Apparently, the said plane was earlier discovered to have experienced a technical problem on its left wheel while traveling to Newark, USA, and returned to Israel without a single passenger being hurt.

The problem was said to have been discovered only hours after it took off from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv at around 1:50 a.m. (local time) and pilot was able to contact the airport’s control tower.

It was decided that the plane should go back to Israel, with the jet’s fuel dumped at sea before the emergency landing.

Before the emergency landing, Israeli authorities have declared a state of emergency as 70 ambulances, 20 fire trucks and several police vehicles arrived in the airport to prepare for the rescue.
