Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is voluntary recalling hard-cooked eggs, as well as prepared foods that contain hard-cooked eggs, which were affected by the recent Michael Foods egg recall.

As reported by FDA on its official website on Thursday, February 2, 2012, the recalled products, which were sold between January 23 and February 1, 2012, could have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

As reported earlier, Michael Foods, Inc. is recalling specific lot dates of hard-cooked eggs in brine sold in 10- and 25-pound pails that were sold in 34 US states via six brand names, and have expiration dates from January 30, 2012 to March 10, 2012.

Meanwhile, Wegmans Food Markets noted that their egg recall only affects purchases made at their stores in Buffalo, Canandaigua, Elmira, Geneva, Geneseo, Hornell, Newark, Rochester, and Syracuse.

As of this writing, FDA noted that there are no confirmed incident-related reports, with the food market noting that they have notified customers who purchased the products using their Shoppers Club card via automated phone calls.

Apparently, Allison’s Gourmet Kitchens also announced a recall for their prepared salads that contain hard-cooked eggs, and cited similar concerns.
