According to several news reports, the tourist was a Dutch man and he procured a ticket to enter the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Reports further added that the man jumped over a metal barrier on the fourth level of the tower and this resulted to a fatal fall and his early demise.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa along with the neighboring cathedral, baptistery and cemetery was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

The tower was recently reopened earlier this week after a thorough cleanup operation that allowed tourists to enjoy the Leaning Tower of Pisa free of scaffoldings for the first time after 20 years.
