Donna Gregor Steals $1M From Mark Twain House and Museum

Donna Gregor admitted in Bridgeport, Connecticut that she took $1 million from the Mark Twain House and Museum, according to reports by several international news sites on Friday, August 5, 2011.

The 58-year-old woman is a long time employee of the Mark Twain House and Museum. She pleaded guilty to wire fraud and filing of false tax return to hide her wrongdoing. Gregor diverted the museum money to smaller accounts and avail of extra pay that she was not entitled.

According to the prosecutor’s office of Connecticut, Gregor used the money to pay for “home improvements, theater tickets, dining out, mortgage payments, credit card payments and car payments.”

Reports say that Gregor may be given a maximum term of 23 years in prison and fine of up to $2 million.
