DepEd suspends afternoon classes in NCR including Metro Manila, Friday, December 9 due to bad weather

Manila, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that the afternoon classes in National Capital Region (NCR) including Metro Manila have been suspended on Friday, December 9, 2011.

As reported at ABS-CBN’s ANC on Friday at around 11:30 a.m. (local time), DepEd announced the suspension of afternoon classes in NCR, including Metro Manila due to bad weather.

According to the report, DepEd NCR Director Elena Ruiz noted that suspension of afternoon classes applies to pre-school, elementary and high school levels due to continuous rains in the in the said region.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), through Graciano Yumul, reported that Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, as well as several areas in Visayas and Mindanao, will experience light to heavy rains today, Friday.

Nevertheless, it is being noted that the DepEd order does not cover the classes for colleges and universities, which the public is being advised to contact respective school administration offices.
