Dennis Sabangan, is the lone Filipino, official photojournalist who has covered various international sports events, like the past FIFA World Cup in Africa, Beijing Olympics, and now the Australian Tennis Open 2011. This was disclosed by local news sites and publications, in a series of articles in 2010 and 2011.

He was also in the thick of action in the Mindanao and Afghanistan wars. Sabangan is considered a world class sports photographer and his talent has been recognized internationally. Many of his photographs have been used by Philippine local magazines and internationally renowned publications like the New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.

Sabangan said:

“A photojournalist’s life hangs in a delicate balance; it is like you are a soldier, you have to go where your boss sends you even, when it’s dangerous…”

Amidst his success, Sabangan still maintains a low profile and remains humble and unassuming.
