Florida Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz recently posed for the famed Vogue magazine, as shown in the photo below. She was reportedly glamorous and “unrecognizable,” which was taken by photographer Marcus Mam; and is very far from her usual attire and hairdo.

As noted at Buzzfeed on Friday, October 5, 2012, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is also the chairperson of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) appeared in the Vogue magazine for its October 2012 issue, and wore fashion dresses designed by designers Jason Wu and Roland Mouret.

According to the report, some have criticized Vogue for making Wasserman Schultz very glamorous, contrary to what Democratic strategist David Axelrod described her in the profile, “a lot of working mothers in America identify with her and she with them,” and also called her as “neither elite nor rich.”

“To run the DNC in a presidential year, serve in the congressional leadership, manage a softball team, and be a mother to three…requires preternatural energy, as well as a large number of costume changes.” The profile on Schultz in the magazine says, according to The Hill, which described her photos as “almost unrecognizable.”

In the Vogue magazine article, which is not yet available online, the 46-year old Democrat was said to have also talked about her health, particularly on how she handled her treatment on breast cancer back in 2008; and that she did not tell anyone she was fighting the disease.

Meanwhile, despite the critics saying that Wasserman Schultz‘ outfit and unusual looks in the Vogue magazine, Jonathan Beeton, the politician’s director of communications, defended her and said that there is really nothing wrong with her glamorous appearance.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz really is many working Moms throughout the country. They are at their kids’ softball practice in a T-shirt and shorts. They’re at work in asuit. In the times that they’re able to go out for a special occasion, they can put on a nice dress.” Beeton told Buzzfeed.
